Student Achievement
Lok Yan's students have severe intellectual and multiple disabilities as well as complex medical conditions. Perhaps you have not expected that they can go to sea, let alone imagined they can sit in a small sailing boat! We are grateful to the volunteers of Caritas Lok Yi School, for bringing four Lok Yan's students on a sailing adventure in Pak Sha Wan, Sai Kung on April 28, 2019! For the first time, Lok Yan students approached the shore and even sailed on it. They were not used to it at first, but soon became able to enjoy the journey. It was so comfortable that they even took a short nap on the boat under the moderating sea breeze. This journey let us realize that students' abilities were beyond our imagination. We are willing to explore more possibilities for our students, add more color to their lives and turn impossible into possible.
The School was honored to be invited by Shan King Estate Baptist Kindergarten to participate in “Through Your Eyes Arts Photography Exhibition (Hong Kong) 2018-19 Photography Exhibition”. Children are not restricted by themes, to show their artistic talents through photography. With the aid of eye trackers, our students created eight artworks to participate in exhibitions held at H6 Conet and Hong Kong Cultural Centre respectively. In the exhibitions, children showed their true inner world through lens, and our students demonstrated the value of equal participation through their works!
In order to fulfil the spirit of harmony between the disabled and the able-bodied, allowing children from special schools and ordinary schools to be able to participate in joint schools activities, the Lions Club has organized white canvas shoes design competition. Students can use a variety of decorative elements to design ordinary white canvas shoes into beautiful and colorful artistic creations. Our students demonstrated their talents and won the best art award and excellent design award. Teachers and students attended the award ceremony and “Cheque Presentation Ceremony” on April 28, 2019.
Thanks for the invitation of Kowloon Shangri-La, Hong Kong. In December 2019, the School students participated in the fundraising activity organized by the hotel for the “Operation Santa Claus”. The hotel provided manuscripts of world-famous designers (including shoes and doll cards) for students to infuse different creative embellishments, including coloring, glitter and lace decoration, to create their colorful and unique artwork. Students and parents took photos before the works on display, to record this unforgettable moment.
